Craft Day

What horseman does not need to know all the things you can create with Duct Tape??  We created 3 projects.

Wild & Crazy "Emergency Medical Armbands,"

keeping our medical information close in case of an emergency.

Lanyard to carry your keys with you out on the trail.

And even a Duct Tape Bag to hold brushes for our trailers!

As you can see we had some wonderful results and a lot of fun and fellowship.  This is one of our just plain fun events in the cold winter months.

Equine First Aid Clinic

On March 12th we all gathered at Dr. Trisha Pugh's

Clinic for an informative presentation on Equine

First Aid.  Everything from taking vitals and when to call a vet for a laceration was covered!

Road Apple Gang Members were given an extensive

Equine First Aid Kit with a just about everything you will ever need to cover an emergency with your horse.

We learned what it was used for.. and how to use it in an emergency. Including on the trail or in the stable.

Thank you Candy for bring us such an informative clinic and providing us with  First Aid Kits!

Tack Cleaning Party

Saturday March 23rd we met at Gayle & Gerry Staten's

beautiful heated garage, to clean our dirty tack!

As you will see it was not an easy feat to get these saddles and bridles so clean! Chrissy Baker even got her boots clean.  We ate Gayle's super chili and had lots of fun and fellowship.. now to get rid of the snow and get these saddles dusty again.. Can't wait!

Cow Clinic #1

Saturday May 25th we participated in our first "cow clinic" with Clark Howell and his gang.  In the morning we Clark and his riders show us movements on horseback that are needed to sucessfully move cattle.  How to get your horse "handy" was discussed.

All of the participates were called to the arena to "pretend we were cows" and some were the "wranglers".  The cows

rode pitchforks and the wranglers had to keep them together and in the herd.. drive them around a pattern. As you see by the expressions this was quite fun!

We then broke for lunch and came back to work the real cows on foot.. drive them around a pattern, split 2 of them out and put all 8 feet in a box, over the scales and into the trailer!  We learned when to push when to drive and when to draw.. can't wait till the 8th when we use our horses!
